Apple's mixed reality (MR) headset 'Vision Pro,' set to launch on the 2nd of next month, has reportedly surpassed 200,000 pre-orders.

On the 30th (local time), US IT media outlet MacRumors cited an industry insider, reporting that Vision Pro's pre-order volume has exceeded 200,000 units.

This comes just 12 days after pre-orders began in the US on the 19th, surpassing one-third of the 500,000 units that Taiwanese market research firm TrendForce projected for Vision Pro shipments this year.

However, the sales pace appears to be slowing somewhat. It is estimated that Vision Pro sales reached 160,000 to 180,000 units in the first three days of pre-orders, with sales over the following week totaling only about 40,000 units.

In response, Apple is reportedly running promotions such as offering Vision Pro, priced at $3,500 (approximately 4.65 million KRW), to employees at a 25% discount.

Meanwhile, ahead of Vision Pro's official launch, local media outlets including CNBC and The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) have simultaneously published hands-on reviews of the device.

CNBC reporter Todd Haselton stated on the 30th (local time), "Vision Pro is the future of computing and entertainment," describing it as "Apple's first major device since the Apple Watch launched in 2015." He added, "It's the most fun new product I've used in recent years," and said, "Although some apps are not yet available, if I had $3,500 on hand, I would buy it immediately."

WSJ columnist Joanna Stern reviewed, "After wearing Vision Pro for a day, I discovered several amazing things." She explained, "I was able to do many things without feeling nauseous, and I even made a delicious meal." She also added, "The headset was heavy but did not cause dizziness, and it provided an experience like watching movies in a home theater anytime and anywhere."

Neil Patal, editor of US IT media The Verge, said, "Vision Pro is magical but not perfect." He continued, "The Vision Pro's display delivers the best visuals, and the tracking technology that follows hand and eye movements was excellent," noting, "It was also a strength that it worked seamlessly with Apple's ecosystem."
