Gangnam-gu Provides On-site Employment and Entrepreneurship Counseling Services for Career-Interrupted Women

Professional Counselors Visit Libraries and Welfare Centers to Provide Employment Information and Job Counseling to Residents... Expanding Participating Institutions This Year

Gangnam-gu Provides On-site Employment and Entrepreneurship Counseling Services for Career-Interrupted Women

Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) is recruiting institutions to participate in this year's outreach employment and entrepreneurship counseling services for women with career interruptions.

The Gangnam-gu Women's Competency Development Center (320 Bongeunsa-ro) operates various employment and entrepreneurship support programs for women with career interruptions, including ▲job fairs ▲career development counseling rooms where professional counselors provide employment and entrepreneurship consultations ▲WIN career coaching group counseling programs that help participants identify interests and aptitudes and teach resume writing skills.

However, many women who are responsible for childcare find it difficult to visit the center located in Yeoksam-dong with their children. To assist residents who are willing to seek jobs but find it difficult to visit the center or do not know where to find employment and entrepreneurship information, professional career counselors visit local institutions to provide counseling services.

This service allows residents to obtain various information such as job openings, job search counseling, resume writing tips, aptitude and interest tests, and the center’s support projects at frequently visited nearby locations such as libraries, cultural centers, and welfare centers, resulting in high resident satisfaction. Last year, counselors visited eight institutions and provided counseling services to 126 people.

While last year’s outreach counseling services were mainly operated with institutions that had existing collaborations, this year the center plans to discover new institutions within the district to expand the service. Institutions wishing to receive employment and entrepreneurship counseling services can apply through the Gangnam-gu Women's Competency Development Center website or by phone, and schedule their preferred date and time through coordination.

Meanwhile, last year the center operated a total of 299 courses, serving 8,211 participants. Among them, 4,555 completed the courses, and a total of 654 people succeeded in employment and entrepreneurship, including childcare providers, career and job experience instructors, and violence prevention education instructors.

Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “We are activating outreach programs between institutions so that residents can effectively obtain useful information,” and added, “We will continue to prepare various employment support services to actively help women with career interruptions demonstrate their abilities once again in society.”
