Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) announced on the 29th that it has posted the 'Temporary Change Designation Notice for Mandatory Closure Days of Large Discount Stores and Semi-Large Stores,' temporarily changing the first mandatory closure day of large discount stores in February to February 10, the day of the Lunar New Year holiday.
The district has been operating since the 28th as the first autonomous district in Seoul to change the mandatory closure days of large discount stores from the 2nd and 4th Sundays to the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays.
According to this temporary change designation notice, the first closure day in February for a total of 34 stores, including 3 large discount stores and 31 semi-large stores subject to weekday mandatory closure in Seocho-gu, will be changed from the 14th to the Lunar New Year day, the 10th. However, Kim's Club Gangnam Branch, which operates mandatory closure days on the 2nd and 4th Mondays, will change from the 12th to the 10th.
Costco Yangjae Branch, which was previously excluded from the weekday mandatory closure conversion, is also included in this Lunar New Year holiday closure. Therefore, the first closure day in February for Costco Yangjae Branch will change from the 11th to the 10th.
The second closure day in February will be the same as the existing mandatory closure day change, on the 4th Wednesday, the 28th [Kim's Club Gangnam Branch will close on the 26th]. Costco Yangjae Branch will participate in the temporary change for the Lunar New Year holiday but will maintain the current mandatory closure days (2nd and 4th Sundays) thereafter.
Jeon Seong-su, Mayor of Seocho-gu, said, "With the temporary change of mandatory closure days for the Lunar New Year holiday, I hope all residents spend warm time with their families and relatives, and we will actively reflect on this change for future holidays such as Chuseok after reviewing the results of this operation."
