Gwangjin-gu Recruiting Applicants for 'Living Area Hazardous Tree Maintenance Project'

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) has launched the ‘Living Area Hazardous Tree Maintenance Project,’ which involves directly removing hazardous trees in daily life, and is accepting applications until February 14.

Living area hazardous trees refer to trees that are likely to break or fall, posing a high risk of safety accidents, as well as trees expected to cause long-term damage to facilities.

It is very dangerous for ordinary residents to remove such hazardous trees by themselves.

Accordingly, the district receives applications for target sites twice a year, in the first and second halves, under the Ordinance on Urban Greening Support of Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, and directly maintains hazardous trees.

The support targets include ▲ detached houses ▲ small-scale multi-family housing ▲ senior citizen centers and other facilities for the elderly and children ▲ educational facilities. After application, a site survey will be conducted to assess the risk level, and target sites will be selected to proceed with the maintenance project sequentially. However, tree maintenance for simple landscape improvement purposes that do not align with the project’s intent or sites without the owner’s consent will be excluded.

Last year, hazardous trees were removed from 92 locations, with 221 trees removed, 358 trees pruned, totaling 579 trees maintained.

Applications are accepted until February 14, and residents wishing to have maintenance done can visit the Gwangjin-gu Office’s Parks and Greenery Division or apply via email. For further details, please refer to the notice below.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We conduct the hazardous tree maintenance project every year to prevent safety accidents and protect the lives and property of residents,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to create an environment where all residents can live safely.”
