On the 20th, Hunid announced that it signed a joint cooperation export agreement with Codan Communications DTC to expand exports. DTC, a strategic partner, is a global leader in tactical communications, supplying various communication systems used by military and police forces in 18 NATO member countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom.

Last October, Hunid signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with DTC for international joint development of next-generation battlefield network solutions utilizing ad-hoc network technology. With the signing of this cooperation agreement (TA), the two companies plan to further strengthen their strategic partnership and expand their business aiming to enter the next-generation global military communications market.

An ad-hoc network is a mesh network technology that allows communication independently through wireless terminals (Mobile Hosts) without the help of external base stations. It has the advantage of effectively establishing a network in environments where communication with the outside is cut off, such as wartime situations, aircraft, ships, and disaster areas.

Advanced countries like the United States are utilizing such technologies to form next-generation networks centered on combatants called MANET (Mobile Ad-hoc Network) and FANET (Flying Ad-hoc Network), which enables network linkage with aerial drone assets that have recently proven highly effective on actual battlefields, thereby creating a combined manned and unmanned combat system.

The Republic of Korea military also announced Defense Innovation 4.0, promoting a combatant-centered (MANET/FANET) network system as a key task to utilize unmanned assets in various battlefield environments. In November last year, during the Korea-UK summit, the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on joint defense exports to explore defense export opportunities and develop new markets such as Commonwealth countries by leveraging their networks.

A Hunid official stated, "DTC’s products are operated not only by numerous military powers such as the United States and the United Kingdom but also possess a supply chain and technological capabilities that dominate about 80% of the Ukrainian military communications market."

He added, "We will jointly develop next-generation combatant-centered (MANET·FANET) network solutions required for future warfare by utilizing DTC’s equipment and operational know-how proven in the Ukraine war, along with Hunid’s excellent tactical communication network construction technology."

Paul Sangster, CEO of DTC, who attended the event, said, "The two companies are developing a strategic partnership based on a shared commitment to advancing military tactical communications. We expect that the combination of the technological capabilities and manufacturing strengths of the two tactical communications leaders from Korea and the UK will create significant synergy."
