Assemblyman Kim Du-gwan Challenges 3rd Term in Yangsan "Once More as Yangsan Citizens' Representative"

Kim Du-gwan, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea and National Assembly member for Yangsan-eul, Gyeongnam, has declared his intention to run again in the 22nd National Assembly election.

Having completed his preliminary candidate registration on the 26th, Assemblyman Kim announced at a briefing room in Yangsan City Hall on the 29th that he will run again in the Yangsan-eul district for the upcoming April general election, aiming for a third term.

He said, “Four years ago, I suddenly moved my electoral district from Gimpo to Yangsan,” adding, “With the spirit of Pabu-chimju (破釜沈舟), breaking the cauldron and sinking the boat, I had no choice but to throw myself in with a determination to die.”

“Today, my political life has been made by the citizens of Yangsan,” he said, “I stand here to be elected once again as the representative of the people of Yangsan.”

Assemblyman Kim promised, “The Wungsang Line, a metropolitan railway connecting Busan, Yangsan, and Ulsan, has been prioritized in the 4th National Railroad Network Plan and is now on track. As soon as the preliminary feasibility study is completed in the second half of this year, I will focus on securing the budget and do my utmost to ensure its early completion.”

He also pledged ▲the development of public housing sites and attraction of convenience facilities within the Wungsang subway station area ▲promotion of National Road No. 1028 as a nationally supported local road ▲construction of the Cheonseongsan Tunnel ▲and the establishment of a new Wolpyeong KTX station on the Busan-Ulsan section.

He expressed his ambition, saying, “I will resolve issues in Sasong New Town such as kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools, and public convenience facilities, as well as the specialized high school in Dong-myeon,” and “I will create an attractive city, Yangsan, where people want to live.”

Assemblyman Kim stated, “I promise legislative activities that are clear in value and distinct,” and “I will prove that the choice of the citizens of Yangsan was not wrong.”

Kim previously served as a two-term mayor of Namhae County, the 34th governor of Gyeongnam Province, and the first Minister of the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs under the Participatory Government.

In the 21st general election, he moved his electoral district from Gimpo-si Gap, Gyeonggi Province, to Yangsan-eul, Gyeongnam, and was elected.
