Three Divisions: Hydrogen Infrastructure, Carbon Neutrality, and Resource Recycling

Gyeonggi-do Yongin City and the Institute of Advanced Engineering (IAE) have formed a working-level consultative body to realize carbon neutrality in the public sector and have begun full-scale operations.

Yongin City announced on the 29th that it held the first meeting of the working-level consultative body on the 26th at the Institute of Advanced Engineering located in Baegam-myeon, Cheoin-gu.

The formation of this working-level consultative body is a follow-up measure to the "Business Agreement for Realizing Region-led Carbon Neutrality" signed by the city and the institute on the 15th. Both organizations agreed to achieve a 40% reduction in greenhouse gases by 2030 to promote a carbon-neutral city in line with the government's New Growth 4.0 strategy.

The working-level consultative body is composed of three subcommittees: ▲Hydrogen Infrastructure Construction ▲Carbon Neutrality Response ▲Resource Recycling.

The Hydrogen Infrastructure Construction subcommittee will establish a cooperative system between Yongin City's New Growth Power Division and the institute's Hydrogen Energy Solution Center. The Carbon Neutrality Response subcommittee includes the city's Climate and Air Division, Resource Circulation Division, and the institute's Clean Energy Transition Center, while the Resource Recycling subcommittee involves the city's Water Purification Division, Sewage Facilities Division, Sewage Operation Division, and the institute's Bio Resource Circulation Center.

Through the formation of this working-level consultative body, the city and the institute plan to discover various eco-friendly policies and cooperative projects aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

Hwang Jun-gi, the 2nd Deputy Mayor of Yongin City, said, "I hope the formation of the working-level consultative body will be an opportunity to think and strive a little more as we embark on a path we have never taken before."
