Governor Kim Young-rok: "We will actively promote attraction efforts and support both universities"
National Mokpo University (President Song Ha-cheol) and National Suncheon University (President Lee Byung-woon) have joined hands to attract a medical school to Jeollanam-do.
According to Mokpo University on the 29th, the presidents of the two universities held a discussion at Suncheon University on the 22nd and had a close dialogue on the plan to establish a national medical school in Jeonnam.

At this meeting, the presidents of the two universities agreed to actively propose to the government the plan to jointly establish and operate a medical school by Mokpo University and Suncheon University, and decided to prepare a draft for the joint medical school establishment as soon as possible through a working-level council involving Jeollanam-do and the two universities.
This reconfirmed the plan to jointly promote a medical school in Jeollanam-do, which was agreed upon during the visit to the Northern Ontario School of Medicine in Canada on the 15th by Governor Kim Young-rok, and officials from Mokpo University and Suncheon University, a case regarded as a successful example of integrated medical school establishment.
Governor Kim Young-rok also expressed great welcome for the results of the presidents' consultation and promised active efforts at the Jeollanam-do level to attract the school and support for the two universities.
