Self-Produced Web Drama 'Gongjeonghaji Mothan Ja' Adapted into a Movie
First Full-Length Film Self-Produced by a Government Ministry
New Promotional Approach Including Case Handling Process
Released via IPTV and OTT Platforms
The Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) released its self-produced feature film “The Unfair Ones” on the 29th through Internet TV (IPTV) and online streaming services (OTT).
This film is based on the self-produced web drama “The Unfair Ones”, which was serialized on the KFTC’s YouTube channel from 2022 until last year. It is the first time a government agency has produced a feature film on its own, with KFTC employees directly participating in the production process through cameo appearances and directing, adding special significance.
The movie is a thriller depicting a cat-and-mouse chase between those who commit and try to conceal collusion and KFTC employees who investigate and punish them. It includes dramatic elements similar to commercial films, such as tense situations at investigation sites and conflicts among employees during case handling.
To realistically portray the case handling process, the scenario was completed after interviews with case officers and review by the relevant department, and actual office spaces and hearing rooms were used as filming locations.
The film is available for free viewing on three IPTV providers?LG Uplus TV, SK Broadband, and KT Genie TV?and four OTT platforms?Naver Series On, Watcha, Wavve, and TVING. Distribution is handled by KT Alpha.
The KFTC evaluated, “This film is meaningful in that it attempts to promote the case handling process and the efforts of our employees in an entertaining way and through a new approach.”
