"Gangseo-gu Life Safety Insurance to be Implemented from February"

"Gangseo-gu Life Safety Insurance to be Implemented from February"

Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) will implement the "Gangseo-gu Life Safety Insurance" starting in February to protect residents from unexpected accidents that may occur in daily life.

The coverage items include four types: ▲Permanent disability due to injury (excluding traffic injuries) ▲Diagnosis allowance for injury accidents (excluding traffic injury accidents) ▲Burn surgery expenses ▲Injury treatment expenses for public transportation accidents (excluding taxis and charter buses).

Permanent disability due to injury refers to cases where 3-100% permanent damage remains to the body even after appropriate treatment following an injury accident, with coverage up to 5 million KRW.

The diagnosis allowance for injury accidents provides 100,000 KRW if diagnosed for more than four weeks as a direct result of an injury accident, and burn surgery expenses provide 500,000 KRW if surgery is performed at a hospital due to burns.

Injury treatment expenses for public transportation accidents cover treatment costs if injured in a traffic accident while using public transportation, with coverage up to 1 million KRW.

All residents registered in Gangseo-gu, including registered foreigners, are automatically enrolled in the insurance without any separate procedures. Residents can also receive insurance benefits even if injured in other regions.

The coverage period is from February 1 of this year to January 31 of next year, and insurance claims must be made within three years of the accident. Overlapping payments with personal indemnity insurance are also possible. Claims can be made through the Gangseo-gu Life Safety Insurance call center.

Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon stated, “We will actively promote the insurance to ensure that residents do not miss out on benefits due to lack of awareness,” and added, “We will continue to build various social safety nets to create a safe and secure city in Gangseo-gu where all residents can feel comfortable.”
