January 29 to February 12 Unfair Trade Practice Reports and Crackdown... Price Fluctuation Trends of 16 Lunar New Year Seasonal Products Investigated and Published on Geumcheon-gu Website
Geumcheon-gu (District Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) is taking measures to stabilize prices of seasonal goods and prevent unfair trade practices ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
The district has designated the period from January 29 to February 12 as the special price stabilization period for the Lunar New Year and will operate the ‘Comprehensive Situation Room for Lunar New Year Price Measures’.
Reports of unfair trade practices will be received, followed by on-site inspections and corrective orders, with continuous monitoring of compliance. If corrections are not made over a long period, the Consumer Protection Agency will be notified and the matter will be reported to the police.
The situation room operates on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Reports will be accepted at the district office’s comprehensive situation room (1st floor) after 6 p.m. on weekdays, as well as on Saturdays and public holidays (including the Lunar New Year holiday).
On-site guidance and inspections to establish distribution transaction order will also be conducted. The inspection period is from February 1 to February 8, targeting traditional markets, large supermarkets, and individual service businesses. The inspections will cover ▲ individual service fees ▲ trade order ▲ collusion regarding agricultural, fishery, and livestock products ▲ distribution of substandard livestock products ▲ management of livestock product traceability ▲ compliance with price labeling ▲ compliance with country of origin labeling.
In addition, the district plans to monitor and publicly disclose on the Geumcheon-gu Office website the price fluctuation trends of 16 seasonal Lunar New Year goods (including apples, pears, beef, pork, pollock, and other ritual items).
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, “We will do our best to prevent unfair trade and stabilize prices of seasonal goods during the holiday,” adding, “Along with price stabilization, we will also strive to increase merchants’ sales so that everyone can enjoy a comfortable and prosperous holiday.”
