Dobong District Citizen Auditors Appointed 27 Members... Enhancing Citizen Rights and Transparent Administration

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced on the 22nd that it has appointed 27 members of the '6th Citizen Auditors' to protect the rights and interests of residents and implement transparent administration.

The appointed citizen auditors were selected through an open recruitment last December and consist of professional citizen auditors with expertise in fields such as architecture, civil engineering, landscaping, and welfare, as well as general citizen auditors who are actively engaged in the local community for the development of the district.

During their two-year term, they will perform roles such as ▲on-site inspections of publicly commissioned construction projects ▲monitoring major district events ▲participating in inspections of flood and snow removal management measures ▲participating in internal audits ▲proposing improvements for residents' inconveniences, and will take the lead to ensure that residents' demands are actively reflected.

The district practices proactive administration by operating citizen auditors who provide residents with opportunities to participate in audits. Last year, the citizen auditors conducted 25 activities including inspections of various construction sites such as the Ssangmun 2-dong Community Center new building project, monitoring various events including the 50th anniversary ceremony of Dobong-gu's establishment, and inspections of flood and snow removal management measures, presenting 176 suggestions for district development.

In particular, during 16 on-site inspections of publicly commissioned construction projects conducted together with related departments, they actively made suggestions such as removing efflorescence on building exteriors, preventing safety threats and issues that could cause complaints in advance.

Professional and general citizen auditors who participated in the on-site inspections of publicly commissioned construction projects said, “We were impressed by Dobong-gu’s efforts to listen and carry out administration beneficial to residents,” and “We will actively participate by expressing our opinions frankly so that Dobong-gu can become even more fair and just.”

In January this year, they participated in the on-site inspection of the Dobong Forest Daycare Center green remodeling construction and comprehensive audits of Chang 1-dong and Banghak 1-dong, providing improvement suggestions.

Meanwhile, the appointment ceremony included the presentation of appointment letters and an orientation. The 27 citizen auditors were briefed on this year’s activity plans and major activities, and pledged to faithfully perform their duties as citizen auditors.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “I thank all the citizen auditors who have shown great interest and participation for the development of the district. I ask for many suggestions this year as well to improve unreasonable systems and spread a culture of integrity,” adding, “We will actively reflect the suggestions in district administration to protect residents’ rights and interests and ensure administrative transparency.”
