Summit Meeting on the 29th
Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to discuss plans for the integration of the two countries.
On the 27th (local time), according to local foreign media including Russia's Sputnik News Agency, the Kremlin announced that the two leaders will hold a summit in Saint Petersburg, Russia, on the 29th to discuss the establishment of a union state.
The two leaders plan to review the implementation status of each clause of the "2021?2023 Union State Establishment Direction" agreed upon in 2021 and approve the tasks to be pursued from 2024 to 2026.
The two countries have been gradually preparing integrated macroeconomic policies, unifying their national payment systems, and promoting the establishment of joint monetary and credit policies.
Russia and Belarus, members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), a group of former Soviet countries, previously signed a separate treaty to establish a union state in 1999 and have been seeking national integration.
