The Democratic Party of Korea wished for the speedy recovery of People Power Party lawmaker Bae Hyun-jin, who was attacked by a middle school student.
On the 27th, Kwon Chil-seung, the chief spokesperson for the Democratic Party, said in a written briefing, "Once again, we wish for Representative Bae's swift recovery," expressing concern that "many citizens were shocked and worried as it was a fatal threat that occurred while she was defenseless."
He continued, "The Democratic Party deeply regrets the repeated occurrence of political terrorism," and stated, "We earnestly hope that politics of hatred and animosity will disappear."
Earlier, on the 25th at around 5:20 p.m., Representative Bae was attacked on the back of her head with a stone by a middle school student, A, at the entrance of a building in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu. Bleeding and collapsed, Representative Bae was immediately transported to a hospital, where she received about a 1 cm scalp suture and was hospitalized for three days for treatment. The police immediately arrested student A at the scene and investigated him in the presence of his guardian. Considering that A is a minor and his current health condition, he was admitted for emergency hospitalization.
