Tom Holland - Tom Hollander, "Bonus Transfer Error Due to Similar Names"
"Always Mistaken for Spider-Man... Disappointed When They See My Face"
Actor Tom Holland (27), who gained much love for his role as Spider-Man in Marvel's 'Avengers,' revealed a story about his box office bonus being mistakenly sent to another actor with a similar name.
On the 25th (local time), major media outlets reported that Tom Hollander (56), whose name is similar to Tom Holland's, appeared on the US NBC late-night talk show 'Late Night with Seth Meyers' on the 22nd and shared amusing stories about the confusion caused by their similar names.
He said, "I was briefly signed with the same agency as Holland, and the accounting department confused our names," adding, "The payslip email I received had 'Avengers box office bonus' written on it." He recalled, "It was a seven-figure bonus," and continued, "It wasn’t the total box office bonus but the first bonus, and it was a larger amount than I had ever seen before." A seven-figure amount in dollars means over one million dollars (about 1.336 billion KRW), suggesting that the film company paid tens of billions of won in bonuses after the movie’s success.
Hollander said, "At the time, I was watching a friend's performance at a theater where they were paid 300 pounds (about 510,000 KRW), and I felt proud knowing I had just appeared on a BBC show and earned about 30,000 pounds (about 50 million KRW)," but added, "That feeling disappeared when I checked the email notifying me of the bonus sent to Holland during the performance."
He also shared, "In situations where my face is not visible, I am always mistaken for Spider-Man," and said, "Especially children who like Spider-Man get excited when they hear my name but are greatly disappointed when they actually see my face."
Tom Hollander is an actor known for his roles in films such as 'Pride and Prejudice,' 'Pirates of the Caribbean,' 'The Night Manager,' and 'The White Lotus.'
Tom Holland has appeared in a total of six films in the 'Avengers' and 'Spider-Man' series and is loved worldwide. Since the release of the films in 2019, he has consistently visited Korea, showing his affection for the country.
