CES AI Best Innovation Award 'SellerCanvas'

In online shopping malls, product detail pages are a crucial part that drives consumers' purchases, but creating just one page requires a lot of effort in terms of cost and time. Small-scale shopping malls face difficulties with design tools when creating pages themselves, and outsourcing the production can be financially burdensome.

Recently, a domestic startup has developed an AI-based solution that can solve these concerns of shopping malls and product sellers all at once, gaining significant attention in the related industry. This is 'StudioLab.'

StudioLab is an AI startup spun off in 2021 through Samsung Electronics' in-house venture project ‘C-Lab.’ It develops vision AI and generative AI related to commerce. Kang Seong-hoon, CEO of StudioLab, said, "Co-founder Director Lee Jae-young and I have had many discussions since our time at Samsung Electronics about introducing AI technology into everyday life," adding, "At that time, an idea was selected as a project in C-Lab to analyze and classify types and materials of clothing so that washing machines, dryers, and air dressers could optimize management according to the clothing. Based on the technology developed then, we spun off from Samsung Electronics to start the company."

Currently, StudioLab holds three solutions based on the technology from the previous in-house venture project. The representative service is ‘SellerCanvas.’ It is a commerce content automatic creation service using generative AI. When an image is uploaded, StudioLab’s vision AI model, developed through learning hundreds of thousands of product images, identifies the product’s features and creates a detailed page including layouts, designs, and descriptive phrases suitable for the product in a short time.

Even those who cannot use Photoshop can upload product photos on the web, and the AI suggests page designs, enabling the production of detailed pages with consistent quality. The descriptive phrases explaining the product are also created through search engine optimization, making the product more visible in search results.

SellerCanvas allows anyone to easily conduct high-quality commerce photography alone through an automatic photo shooting robot. It guarantees uniform image quality and accuracy by automating product photo shooting and minimizes repetitive tasks.

StudioLab recently won the Best of Innovation award in the AI category at CES 2024 held in Las Vegas, USA, with this service. CEO Kang said, "This award has led us to plan rapid global service expansion," adding, "Customers from Japan, the Arab region, and the US whom we met at CES have requested follow-up meetings, and we are planning PoC (Proof of Concept) projects."

StudioLab’s other services include 'PhotoBot' and 'DeepScan.' PhotoBot is a commerce-specialized shooting robot that automates product photo shooting, which product sellers often find difficult. Equipped with on-device AI, the robot analyzes subjects and spaces and can shoot autonomously like a photographer. DeepScan is a material analysis solution for recycled clothing, aimed at making discarded clothes reusable, a major concern for fashion companies.

CEO Kang’s vision is to help sellers sell more products better by utilizing these services. He said, "Our company’s goal is to reduce repetitive tasks through unique AI technology and enable people to engage in more creative and productive work," adding, "We will build cooperative relationships with major domestic commerce platforms and hosting companies to grow into a company that can help many sellers."
