Baek Hyun-jin, a member of the People Power Party, was struck on the head by an assailant and transported to the emergency room. Soonchunhyang University medical staff reported that after receiving suturing treatment, she is currently resting in a stable condition.

Park Seok-gyu, a professor of neurosurgery at Soonchunhyang University and Baek’s attending physician, held a briefing at the hospital on the afternoon of the 25th, stating, "When (Baek) arrived at the emergency room, she was conscious and clear, and there was bleeding from the scalp. She seemed very startled and anxious, but she is now resting stably in her hospital room."

Earlier that day, Baek was struck on the head with a stone by an unidentified man on the street in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, around 5 p.m., and was subsequently taken to Soonchunhyang University Hospital.

Professor Park explained that Baek sustained about a 1 cm injury on the back of her head and that the occipital area was slightly swollen. A CT scan was performed, and the wound was sutured twice using a stapler.

Park added, "There appear to be no signs of delayed bleeding or fractures, but sometimes microbleeding inside the skull can be seen over time, so we need to monitor her condition."

Currently, Baek is reported to have no symptoms of a concussion. However, Professor Park said, "If symptoms are not severe, she can be discharged soon, but in many cases like this, concussion symptoms are often reported, so if that happens, she may need further care."

He continued, "There is no need for much concern at this time, but we need to observe her progress," adding, "Additional tests such as MRI will be conducted to check for other findings."

According to the hospital, Baek stated upon arrival that "I was hit on the back of the head and fell backward, hitting my head on the ground."

The medical staff found wounds around Baek’s eyes and face that appeared to be scratches from a sharp object, which are presumed to have been caused by the fall, and they disinfected the injuries.
