CEO Kim Changhan Shares This Year's Strategy in Internal Communication Program
Changhan Kim, CEO of Krafton, stated on the 25th, "This year is the first year to see tangible results from the Scale-up the Creative strategy," adding, "It will be a turning point for Krafton's stepwise growth." The Scale-up the Creative strategy refers to a business development direction that discovers new fun in games and effectively expands into the global market.
On the same day, Kim shared the 2024 management strategy during the in-house communication program 'Krafton Live Talk (KLT)'.
Kim plans to operate a total of about 20 pipelines, aiming to release new titles every year, including Dark and Darker Mobile, inZOI, Dinkum Mobile, Project Black Budget, and Subnautica 2. Among these, Dark and Darker Mobile and inZOI are scheduled for release this year.
He called for the consolidation of Krafton employees' capabilities and a shift in mindset. Beyond simply strengthening publishing capabilities, he emphasized that all members should adopt a perspective that explores every possibility to maximize the value from discovering, producing, and commercializing creativity. Kim said, "We will also reorganize the internal structure this year. We will restructure the publishing organization to respond agilely according to the potential and growth of creativity, creating an environment where new IPs can challenge the market more quickly."
Kim also explained the importance of continuous investment for global expansion, including the PUBG IP and the Indian market. The plan is to build a unique competitive edge by establishing an independent platform ecosystem through franchising the PUBG IP. Specifically, a long-term brand strategy will be executed by expanding the product lineup based on the PUBG IP and increasing development projects through internal and external studios and outsourcing. He also revisited the investment and growth potential in the Indian market, including securing an unrivaled No. 1 position for Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), and expanding publishing and esports within India.
Kim emphasized the application of deep learning technology as well. He views deep learning technology as a "game changer" that will transform the game industry landscape and encourages more active use during the development stages. Given that the company already possesses world-class AI R&D capabilities, Kim expects not only production efficiency but also the provision of new user-centered experiences.
Kim said, "To achieve results from the Scale-up the Creative strategy, all members will focus on game production with the determination to give their all."
