On the 25th at around 3 p.m., Park met with reporters as he arrived at the personnel hearing preparation office set up at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office in Seocho-dong, Seoul, and made this statement.
Park said, "It feels new to return to the place where I last worked before leaving the prosecution," adding, "I will humbly reflect on my past life and prepare for the hearing while deeply considering the policy directions to be pursued."
He continued, "The Ministry of Justice encompasses many areas directly related to the lives of the people beyond the prosecution," and added, "I accepted the ministerial position thinking it is an opportunity to serve the people through this."
In response to reporters' questions about rumors that his appointment was intended to check the Prosecutor General due to his connection with the president or the timing of the nomination, Park replied, "I do not think the president manages state affairs based on personal relationships," and said, "I simply perform my duties fairly according to law and principles."
Regarding the question about why Kim Geon-hee, the wife of President Yoon Seok-yeol, and his mother-in-law were never summoned for investigation during the Deutsche Motors probe, Park said, "I hope to review those matters gradually and have an opportunity to speak about them."
From that day, Minister Park began full-scale preparations for the personnel hearing. The Ministry of Justice formed a hearing preparation team led by Kwon Soon-jung, Director of the Ministry of Justice's Prosecution Bureau (acting Director of the Planning and Coordination Office). Park Seung-hwan, Director of the Ministry of Justice's Policy Planning Division, was appointed as the overall team leader of the preparation team.
Shin Dong-won, spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice, serves as the public relations team leader, and Gu Seung-mo, legal affairs officer of the Ministry of Justice, is the personnel team leader. Additionally, Kim Sang-kwon, the Ministry of Justice's Innovation Administration Officer, is in charge of the administrative support team.
According to the Personnel Hearing Act, state agencies may provide the minimum necessary administrative support to public office candidates for personnel hearings as stipulated by the act.
