Installation possible within 2 Eup/Myeon/Dong areas

The government and local governments will begin inspecting and organizing political party banners that violate laws from the 26th until the end of next month.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 25th that it will promote maintenance to early establish the changed systems following the enforcement of the Outdoor Advertising Act amendment, which strengthens restrictions on the number and installation locations of political party banners.

According to the amendment, political party banners can be installed up to two per party in each eup, myeon, and dong, and installation is prohibited in children's protection zones and around fire facilities. To secure visibility for pedestrians and vehicle drivers, banners must be installed at a height of at least 2.5 meters near intersections, crosswalks, and bus stops, and must not block other banners, traffic signals, or safety signs.
The font size displaying the party name, contact information, and posting period (15 days) must be at least 5 cm, and the banner size must be within 10 square meters.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety and local governments plan to focus on checking whether political party banners are installed in prohibited areas, the number of installations by party and region, and compliance with display and installation methods during this inspection. For violating banners, the respective party will be requested to voluntarily remove or relocate them, and if not complied with, the local government will remove them.
Additionally, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to promote the method of reporting illegal banners through the Safe Report app to encourage active reporting by local residents and civic groups.
Deputy Minister Ko Gi-dong of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety said, "Although many banners are expected to be installed ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, we will actively promote on-site inspections and maintenance together with local governments to minimize public inconvenience caused by political party banners."
