Emergency Support for Seocheon Fire Victims
Disaster Relief Fund 2 Million Won per Household
Concurrent Support for Residents Affected by Heavy Rain and Wildfire Disasters
Chungnam Province will provide winter relief funds for victims of the Seocheon fire and others. The Seocheon fire occurred on the 22nd at the Seocheon Specialty Market. The relief fund support will be provided to residents affected by regional disasters, including the Seocheon fire, last April's large-scale wildfire, and July's heavy rainfall.
On the 25th, Chungnam Province announced that it has revised this year's disaster relief fund operation plan to allocate funds for winter relief expenses.
Through the revision of the disaster relief fund operation plan, Chungnam Province paid Seocheon County 564 million KRW from the disaster relief fund on the 24th to support small business owners affected by the Seocheon Specialty Market fire. Seocheon County plans to provide 2 million KRW per household from the disaster relief fund after verifying the damage to small business owners.
Additionally, as of this month, Chungnam plans to support 36 disaster-affected households currently living in temporary residential modular homes (5 households affected by heavy rain in Buyeo County and 31 households affected by wildfires in Hongseong County) with 100,000 KRW per household for electricity bills for six months (50% of indirect support amount).
To this end, Chungnam Province has secured a budget of 21.6 million KRW and will proceed with applications and registrations by county to ensure the budget is executed by next month.
The disaster relief fund is also used to support heating costs for vulnerable groups and facilities. Chungnam Province has secured 1.0356 billion KRW from the disaster relief fund to provide 200,000 KRW to 5,178 cold wave shelters such as elderly facilities, village halls, and welfare centers, and a total of 6.4884 billion KRW to provide 100,000 KRW to 64,884 vulnerable households, including basic livelihood security recipients.
Shin Dongheon, Director of the Chungnam Provincial Office of Autonomy and Safety, said, “Through the revision of the disaster relief fund operation plan, Chungnam Province will strive to ensure timely support for residents affected by regional disasters.”
