The Gyeongnam Aviation National Industrial Complex (Jinju District) is a key location promoted to establish aerospace industry infrastructure and strengthen the competitiveness of advanced industries by the government, with the construction of a public hospital in western Gyeongnam confirmed.

In particular, a space environment testing facility about ten times larger than the Space Parts Testing Center (for extreme space environment testing and development of microsatellites) operated by the Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL) since 2020 is being planned, making it the optimal site in Korea to lead the future space industry and to cluster advanced aviation and K-defense industries.

Mayor Jo said, “With the passage of the Special Act on the Space Aviation Agency, which is accelerating the development of the aerospace industry, I hope the project will be carried out perfectly to become a central city in the aerospace industry. Jinju City will also provide active support for the development of the space and future aviation sectors.”
