Gumi City to Create 'K-Food Sanctuary' ... Signs Business Agreement with Kyochon F&B Gumi City Hall.

The signing ceremony was attended by Yoon Jin-ho, CEO of Kyochon F&B, Mayor Kim Jang-ho, City Council Chairman Ahn Joo-chan, Provincial Assemblyman Kim Yong-hyun, Council Operations Committee Chairman Kim Young-tae, and local district council members Park Gyo-sang, Kim Jae-woo, and Kim Min-sung.

Through this business agreement, plans include ▲ a local landmark project themed around the first Kyochon Chicken store ▲ development of menu items using local specialties ▲ cooperation to promote local projects such as sports activities, scholarship funds, and regional festivals.

The city will invest 1.8 billion KRW (1.3 billion from the private sector and 0.5 billion from the city) to create public design-based guide signs, sculptures, murals, photo zones, and media walls along the approximately 300-meter section from the Gumi Intercity Bus Terminal intersection to the first Kyochon store. Through storytelling of Kyochon’s history (1991 Kyochon-ro) and culture (2023 Kyochon-ro), it plans to transform this area into a new tourist attraction in Gumi.

Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, “I am grateful that Kyochon, which started in Gumi in 1991 and has now become a world-leading franchise, is actively promoting the landmark project for the first Kyochon Chicken store,” adding, “Once the street project is completed, it is expected to play a significant role in attracting not only domestic tourists but also international visitors.”
