Gwangju Dong-gu to Install and Operate 'Jinggeomdari House' Starting Next Month

Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 24th that starting from February, it will establish and operate the 'Dong-gu JinggeumdarI House,' a short-term residence space, to provide safe integrated care for vulnerable groups facing temporary housing crises.

'Dong-gu JinggeumdarI House' will serve as a stepping stone by providing residence for up to three months to households facing temporary housing crises such as fires, patients discharged after long-term hospitalization in hospitals or facilities, and residents who need to relocate to improve poor housing conditions, helping them recover quickly both physically and mentally and successfully return to the local community.

Eligibility for residence requires having an address in Dong-gu and meeting the Gwangju-daum Integrated Care necessity evaluation criteria (60 points or higher). Two locations will be operated in Gyelim-dong, equipped with various convenience facilities to accommodate elderly and mobility-impaired individuals. For detailed information such as application for residence, inquiries can be made to the Integrated Care Division or the local administrative welfare center of the resident’s address.

A Dong-gu official stated, "'Dong-gu JinggeumdarI House' is a representative example of Dong-gu-style Gwangju-daum Integrated Care, which strives to guarantee residents' basic rights in daily life," adding, "We will successfully operate the 'Dong-gu JinggeumdarI House' throughout this year to eliminate blind spots in housing crises and gradually expand the number of facilities based on this."

Meanwhile, Gwangju-daum Integrated Care is available to any citizen who needs care due to illness, accidents, frailty, disability, etc., regardless of income, assets, age, or disability status. Service costs are free up to an annual limit of 1.5 million KRW for those with income below 90% of the median income standard, while citizens exceeding this threshold can use the service at their own expense.
