Kaitus Technology (hereinafter Kaitus) announced on the 24th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with KT to establish an anti-drone platform and cooperate on services for the safety of national key facilities and citizens.
According to this agreement, Kaitus and KT plan to promote a more advanced anti-drone business by integrating 5G, artificial intelligence, and security technologies into the anti-drone system based on the expertise of both companies. Anti-drone refers to drones that neutralize illegal drones involved in terrorism, crime, privacy invasion, and other unlawful activities.
Specifically, the two companies will collaborate on ▲securing a leading position in 5G and AI-linked net capture-type anti-drone solutions and pioneering/expanding the anti-drone market ▲contributing to national safety by establishing drone defense systems within key facilities ▲forming a joint consultative body for these purposes.
Kaitus is the official Korean dealer of Fortem Technologies, a U.S.-based AI-driven anti-drone specialist company. Fortem Technologies possesses anti-drone technology based on deep learning AI radar using the "Micro-Doppler" method and an accumulated "AI library."
Until now, domestically, hard kill methods that physically destroy drones and soft kill methods that neutralize drones through radio interference have mainly been used. However, due to drawbacks such as secondary damage from crashes and explosions and damage to friendly equipment caused by radio interference, recently, AI-linked net capture-type anti-drone systems that combine the advantages of both methods have been gaining attention.
Kaitus provides industry-leading anti-drone solutions such as the "AI-linked net capture-type anti-drone system."
A company representative stated, “The introduction of anti-drone technology, which has emerged as a game changer in the defense and security industries, is becoming essential. Through this agreement, the combination of KT’s communication and ICT capabilities and KAITUS’s anti-drone operational know-how will create a more evolved anti-drone business success model that the public can experience.”
