Seocho District Council Concludes the 331st Extraordinary Session... Councilors Lee Hyun-sook and Lee Eun-kyung Propose Policies Through 5-Minute Free Speeches
The Seocho District Council (Chairman Oh Se-cheol) concluded the schedule for the first temporary session of the new year 2024 on the 22nd with the end of the 2nd plenary session.
During this temporary session, there were reports on the 2024 district administration tasks and Q&A by standing committees, as well as the review of ordinance proposals.
At the plenary session that day, council members Lee Hyun-sook and Lee Eun-kyung gave 5-minute free speeches.
First, Councilor Lee Hyun-sook spoke about the need for systematic public support for remodeling of aging apartment complexes built in the 1990s with floor area ratios close to 300%, which are impossible to reconstruct. To this end, she proposed the establishment and operation of the "Seocho-gu Public Housing Remodeling Support Center" to help improve residents' living environments.
Next, Councilor Lee Eun-kyung addressed the seriousness of traffic accidents involving elderly drivers aged 65 and over, emphasizing the need to prepare measures to prevent such accidents. She proposed enhancing incentives such as increasing support funds for surrendering driver's licenses, creating a self-diagnosis manual for driving ability and awareness education, and establishing devices to identify and accommodate elderly drivers.
The matters processed included ▲ Ordinance to bridge the information gap for persons with disabilities and their guardians in Seocho-gu, Seoul (Councilor An Byung-du) ▲ Partial amendment of the ordinance for the installation and operation of the Simsan Memorial Cultural Center (Simsan Memorial Hall) in Seocho-gu, Seoul ▲ Hearing the district council's opinion on the urban management plan [land use district (apartment district)/Banpo Apartment District unit plan area and unit plan] and the designation and revision of the maintenance plan for the Shinpangpo 2nd Apartment reconstruction project maintenance district.
