Professor Hwang Euichang of Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital Selected as BRIC 'Hanbitsa'

Professor Hwang Euichang of the Department of Urology at Chosun Jeonnam National University Hospital participated as the first author in a paper that was listed in "People Who Illuminate Korea."

"People Who Illuminate Korea" is an initiative by the POSTECH Biological Research Information Center (BRIC) that introduces papers by Korean scientists published in major academic journals to disseminate excellent research achievements in the life sciences field, boost researchers' morale, and expand and develop research through the exchange of research activities.

BRIC selects and introduces Korean scientists who have published life science papers in world-class journals with an impact factor of 10 or higher or those ranked in the top 3% by group, based on journal citation data from academic citation reports, as "Hanbit-sa" (People Who Shine).

Professor Hwang published the paper titled "Testosterone replacement in men with sexual dysfunction" in the internationally renowned journal of evidence-based medicine, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (IF 8.4).

The paper systematically reviews the effects and side effects of testosterone replacement therapy, which is currently used in the treatment of male sexual dysfunction but whose clinical efficacy remains controversial. The study aims to facilitate evidence-based decision-making for clinical medicine experts, patients, and health policy professionals.

Professor Hwang has led the establishment of the Korean branch of the international organization Cochrane Urology and the Korean GRADE (Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluations) network, striving to contribute to the development, education, and research of evidence-based medicine methodologies.
