Goheung Nokdong Drone Show Captures Two Goals: Tourism and Economy

Permanent Drone Show Every Saturday for 8 Months Starting April

Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) is preparing the ‘2024 Nokdong Port Drone Show,’ which offers a new experience of drone technology, enjoyment of culture and arts, and a chance to savor Goheung’s abundant food, with even more uniqueness following last year’s success.

According to the county on the 23rd, the Nokdong Port Drone Show, first introduced last year as the Jeollanam-do region’s inaugural special nighttime sightseeing regular attraction unique to Goheung every Saturday, attracted about 180,000 visitors over just 23 performances, generating an estimated 15 billion KRW in direct and indirect local commercial economic effects.

In particular, the drone show performances have made Nokdong Port and Nokdong Sea Garden hot spots on the Goheung travel route, gaining nationwide recognition and becoming a new trend in Goheung tourism, thus changing the landscape of tourism in Goheung.

The Nokdong Port Drone Show is a regular free performance held every weekend night for seven months starting from May last year, coinciding with the launch of the 8th local government administration, and was the first of its kind in Jeollanam-do. It featured various themes and productions against the night view of the Sorok Bridge at Nokdong Port.

This year, the county plans to capture two goals?securing unique nighttime tourism content and revitalizing the local economy?by offering distinctive attractions, food, and entertainment to attract tourists through differentiated drone show performances.

This year, the Nokdong Port Drone Show will be held every Saturday night from April to November for eight months, starting one month earlier than last year. In addition to the performances, busking shows, laser shows, commercial drone flight demonstrations, as well as nearby street stalls, food trucks, and direct sales markets for agricultural and marine products will be operated.

A county official urged, “Starting from the first weekend of April, the Nokdong Port Drone Show will present richer and more splendid content, and we ask that you become a valuable partner of Goheung-gun throughout this eight-month journey.”

He added, “We will gift you unforgettable memories and emotions beyond the drone show performance, filled with the charm of Goheung.”

Meanwhile, Goheung-gun is focusing all its capabilities on vigorously advancing the drone and UAM (Urban Air Mobility) aviation industry infrastructure based on the aviation infrastructure facilities around Goheung Bay, which is a regional competitive advantage, and actively responding to changes in the aviation industry to make the skies of Goheung soar with drone UAM.
