The Gwangju Regional Office of Veterans Affairs under the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs is making every effort to ensure that veterans' families can receive high-quality medical services close to their residences.
On the 23rd, the Gwangju Veterans Office announced that it has newly designated one location in Gwangju Metropolitan City and five locations in Jeollanam-do as commissioned hospitals.
The newly designated commissioned hospitals?Kingdom Dental Clinic (Nam-gu, Gwangju), Gangjin 88 Orthopedic Clinic (Gangjin-eup, Gangjin-gun), Jangheung Seongsim Clinic (Jangheung-eup, Jangheung-gun), Kim Manjung Internal Medicine Clinic (Haenam-eup, Haenam-gun), and Hwasun Goindol Orthopedic Clinic (Hwasun-eup, Hwasun-gun)?will begin commissioned medical services starting February 1.
With the addition of these five commissioned hospitals, the total number of commissioned hospitals under the jurisdiction of the Gwangju Veterans Office has increased from 32 to 37.
When using commissioned hospitals, national merit disabled veterans and patients with Agent Orange-related illnesses can receive a 100% discount on medical fees (excluding non-reimbursable expenses). War veterans receive a 90% discount, and recipients of military merit awards as well as first-priority surviving family members of independent (national) patriots aged 75 or older receiving compensation receive a 60% discount.
The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs plans to expand commissioned clinics focusing on medical departments with high demand to improve accessibility to medical institutions amid the rapidly increasing medical needs due to the aging of national merit recipients.
