Making Zone, Story Zone, Baking Zone, and More Filled with Imagination and Emotional Spaces
Pilot Program 'Sairo Jipduri' Runs from January 22 to 26 Ahead of Official Opening in Late February
A dedicated space for future generations who will create a better world is being established for the first time in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul.
Yeongdeungpo District (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that after six months of remodeling Seonyudo Library, it will unveil ‘Sairo,’ a customized space for the Twin Generation.
The ‘Twin Generation,’ meaning teenagers and between, refers to children from 5th grade in elementary school to 3rd grade in middle school, who fall between childhood and adolescence.
‘Sairo’ carries the meaning of freely exploring across boundaries. The district partnered with the ‘Seed’ of the Library and Culture Foundation to create ‘Sairo,’ an open space and emotional recharge station where children belonging to the Twin Generation can freely imagine and grow.
Located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the library, ‘Sairo’ is designed with various spaces where children can pursue and explore new experiences. It includes a Making Zone where they can freely create using prepared materials, a Story Zone where they can make their own stories into books, a Baking Zone for confectionery, and a Pyeongsang Zone with comfortable sofas to watch comics or movies.
Additionally, there are Music, Game, and Photo Zones for the Twin Generation. The boundaries between each space have been removed so children can move up and down the loft or sit on the stairs to read books, with each space infused with a warm atmosphere.
Furthermore, from the 22nd to the 26th, the district will operate a pilot program called ‘Sairo Housewarming.’ Ahead of the official opening at the end of February, this program allows the main users, the Twin Generation, to be the first to experience and explore the ‘Sairo’ space. ‘Sairo Housewarming’ will be held twice daily at 3 PM and 5 PM. Twin Generation participants who wish to join can apply through the Seonyudo Library website.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, said, “The dedicated space for the Twin Generation, which we have ambitiously prepared since last year, is finally unveiling and about to open. We will actively support the Twin Generation, the future generation, so they can recharge their emotions and vitality through ‘Sairo’ and nurture their dreams and hopes.”
