BBQ, K-Food Ambassador at Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games

Chicken franchise Genesis BBQ Group announced on the 22nd that it has opened a BBQ Pavilion at Gangneung Olympic Park, the venue for the '2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games,' to promote the excellence of K-Food.

On the 19th, Yoon Hong-geun, Chairman of Genesis BBQ Group, introduced popular K-Food items overseas such as chicken dishes, side dishes, and tteokbokki to Song Mi-ryeong, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Im Kyung-sook, Chairperson of the Korean Food Promotion Institute, and Kim Jin-tae, Governor of Gangwon Province, who visited the BBQ Pavilion. They also discussed the development of Korean cuisine and the direction of the food service industry in overseas markets. Afterwards, they took photos with the ‘BBQ Supporters’ and ‘Mungcho,’ the mascot of the Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games.


Minister Song encouraged the ‘BBQ Supporters’ on site and gifted them BBQ chicken, which she ordered herself through a kiosk.


Chairman Yoon said, "As wanting to eat ‘K-Food’ has rapidly become the number one reason for visiting Korea, it is an honor to represent Korea at the Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games and showcase the taste and excellence of Korean cuisine to the world. We will continue to strive to ensure that various Korean dishes are loved by people all over the world by expanding overseas markets beyond North America to Southeast Asia, Asia, and Oceania."
