North Korea Publicizes Choe Son-hui's Visit to Russia Results

North Korea announced on the 21st that it is ready to warmly welcome Russian President Vladimir Putin.


The state-run radio station, Korean Central Broadcasting, reported this while covering the public relations content from the Foreign Minister's Office regarding Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui's visit to Russia from the 14th to the 18th.


According to the report, the office stated, "The government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea warmly welcomes Comrade President Putin's visit to our country and is prepared to receive the closest friend of the Korean people with the utmost sincerity."

It also mentioned that during a meeting with Foreign Minister Choe, President Putin expressed "his willingness to visit the Democratic People's Republic of Korea at an early date." Earlier, the Russian Kremlin announced on the 19th (local time) that although there is no exact date yet for Putin's visit to North Korea, coordination through diplomatic channels is underway.


If President Putin visits North Korea, it will be his first visit in 24 years since July 2000.


The office also conveyed that during Foreign Minister Choe's visit to Russia, both sides "engaged in in-depth strategic communication and reached a consensus on various regional and international issues, including the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia."


It added, "They expressed a strong will to further strengthen strategic cooperation and tactical collaboration in defending the core interests of the two countries, North Korea and Russia, and in establishing a new multipolar international order based on independence and justice."


Furthermore, "The Russian side expressed deep gratitude for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's full support and solidarity with the Russian government and people regarding the special military operation in Ukraine," it said.
