Photos of the Brunei royal family's extravagant wedding, which lasted for 10 days starting from the 7th, have been released, drawing international attention. In particular, the diamond dress worn by the bride, Anisha Rosna Isa-Kalebic, and the tiara, estimated to be worth over 17 billion KRW, received significant focus.
According to CNN on the 18th (local time), the Brunei royal wedding held in Bandar Seri Begawan from the 7th concluded on the 17th. The wedding was between Abdul Mateen (32), the 10th child and fourth prince of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei, and his fianc?e Anisha Rosna Isa-Kalebic (29). The events began on the 7th, with Brunei traditional ceremonies on the 10th, Islamic ceremonies on the 11th, Western-style wedding and reception on the 14th, followed by various celebratory parties.
The Western-style wedding held on the 14th attracted worldwide attention, especially for the bride’s wedding dress and tiara. The tiara was previously worn by Princess Azemah Bolkiah, the younger sister of Prince Mateen who married in January last year, and was custom-made by the Singaporean jewelry brand Flower Diamond.
The Brunei royal family, known to possess assets worth over 40 trillion KRW, is estimated to have spent at least 25 million USD (about 33.5 billion KRW) solely on the wedding events and celebrations. Since gaining independence from British colonial rule in 1984, Brunei has been an Islamic absolute monarchy that has accumulated immense wealth through abundant natural gas and oil resources, providing free education, healthcare benefits, housing support, study abroad expenses, and pensions to all its citizens.
Meanwhile, Prince Mateen, the groom and the 6th in line to the Brunei throne, is a globally recognized figure with over 2.5 million Instagram followers. He graduated from King’s College London and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the UK and is also active as a polo player. The bride, Anisha, is the granddaughter of Pehin Dato, a special advisor to the Sultan of Brunei, and is a private citizen running a fashion company and a tourism business. Although the exact way the couple met is not publicly known, it is reported that they have been dating for several years.
