The meeting was attended by Ryu Hee-rim, Chairperson of the Commission, Lee Hyun-joo, Secretary General of the Commission, Park Min, President of KBS, Ahn Hyung-joon, President of MBC, Bang Moon-shin, President of SBS, and Kim Yoo-yeol, President of EBS.
In his opening remarks, Chairperson Ryu emphasized that the keyword for the Commission in the new year is 'public welfare,' stating, "We will make every effort to implement systems such as a regular and rapid review process that the public, who suffer significant harm from false and manipulated content, can feel, as well as a 24-hour reporting and remedy system for digital sex crimes."
He also urged terrestrial broadcasters to take an interest so that the Commission's public interest functions can be properly exercised.
Representatives of terrestrial broadcasters responded by saying that the Commission's 24-hour reporting and remedy system for digital sex crimes is a tangible public welfare service that should be widely publicized so that the public can benefit. They also expressed expectations that the Commission will conduct reviews considering the recent trend of deregulation and changes in the broadcasting environment.
In response, Chairperson Ryu stated, "The Commission's review principles are 'minimum regulation' and 'activation of self-regulation.'"
