Former U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly stated on the 17th (local time) that he is 100% certain there will be a major terrorist attack in the United States due to President Joe Biden's immigration policies and the surge of illegal crossings at the southern border.
According to some media outlets, Trump, a leading candidate in the Republican presidential primary, said at a rally held in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, "In my opinion, because of what they (the Biden administration) are leading into our country at the southern border, there will be a major terrorist attack in our country, 100% certain."

He went on to claim that since President Joe Biden took office in 2021, "we have seen a record number of terrorists arriving in this country," adding that during his presidency in 2019, no terrorists entered the United States.
"We had no terrorism for four years," he said, adding that now millions are coming from Yemen, the Middle East, and around the world. He also claimed that many of those coming to the U.S. are males aged 18 to 25, "the perfect age to become warriors."
In fact, recently, illegal immigrants have been flooding into the U.S. not only from Latin America but also from Asia and Africa. With the presidential election coming up in November, illegal immigration has become a major election issue. The Republican Party is highlighting the illegal immigration problem at the southern border and strongly criticizing President Biden and the Democratic Party.
Meanwhile, reports emerged that Representative Elise Stefanik could be selected as the vice-presidential candidate if former President Trump runs for president again.
According to local U.S. media, during a dinner with close aides at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida at the end of last month, Stefanik was mentioned as a potential vice-presidential pick.
Attendees at the dinner reportedly praised Stefanik for her strong performance at a congressional hearing related to anti-Semitism controversies, where she aggressively challenged Ivy League university presidents.
Former President Trump is said to have responded positively. At the dinner, Trump nodded at the option of naming Stefanik as his running mate and reportedly said, "She is a killer," according to one attendee.
On December 28 last year (local time), thousands of people formed a long line walking toward the U.S. border in Escuintla, Mexico. On the previous day, the 27th, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Mexico and discussed immigration issues with Mexican President Andr?s Manuel L?pez Obrador. 2023.12.29 [Image source=Yonhap News]
Stefanik had already declared her support for Trump in November last year. In a recent interview on a broadcast, she drew attention by repeating Trump's remarks referring to supporters serving sentences related to the 2021 U.S. Capitol riot as "hostages."
Additionally, at a congressional hearing held last month regarding anti-Semitic movements among Ivy League students, she drew attention by pressing the presidents of Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
As a young female politician, Stefanik also complements Trump's weaknesses. She has won five terms in New York State, which leans Democratic, serves as the third-ranking member in the House as the chair of the Republican Conference, and has strong fundraising abilities.
However, the Trump campaign has stated that no final decision has been made regarding the vice-presidential nomination. Former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon named other potential running mates including South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn, and said that former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, a Trump rival, cannot be ruled out.
