Naju City in Jeollanam-do has completed the projects for the ‘Daehosu Waterfront Park Tourism Resource Development’ and the creation of an ‘Eco-friendly Wooden Playground,’ aimed at establishing a citizen-friendly premium park.
According to the city on the 18th, Daehosu Waterfront Park, covering approximately 20,000㎡, features a waterside deck promenade, a lawn plaza, an outdoor performance stage and seating, ground fountains, pavilions, and sports and play facilities. It has become a representative park of the old downtown area and a long-standing resting place for citizens.

Although it is the most frequented park among the old downtown parks, residents have continuously requested park maintenance due to issues such as deck damage and safety concerns caused by aging facilities, and the absence of lotus flowers blooming during the flowering season.
Earlier, since the end of 2022, the city has been focusing on the Daehosu Waterfront Park Tourism Resource Development project with a total budget of 880 million KRW (50% provincial funds, 50% city funds).
In particular, the project completed the opening and dredging of reservoir waterways, repairs of aging deck facilities, installation of night lighting for the basketball court and landscape lighting along the Taxodium walkway, and replacement of the loess walking path pavement, thereby enhancing visitor safety.
About 1,900 lotus plants, which had disappeared for several years due to water quality issues, were newly planted in sections. It is expected that visitors will be able to enjoy the blooming lotus flowers at Daehosu Reservoir in July and August this year.
An eco-friendly wooden playground where children can safely run and play freely has also been newly established.
The playground construction involved a budget of 430 million KRW (70% provincial funds, 30% city funds).
The eco-friendly play facilities, including a slide, suspension bridge, zip line, and trampoline, which stimulate adventurous spirits, are very popular among children.
The park’s ground fountain, which had been temporarily suspended during construction, will resume operation starting in June.
Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said, “Daehosu Waterfront Park has been reborn as a safer, more relaxing, and enjoyable citizen-friendly premium park. We will continue to do our best to improve living conditions and expand rest and leisure spaces to enhance the quality of life for our citizens.”
