Lee Kyung: "Received a Fact-Checking Statement from Substitute Driver"... Opposition Party Discusses Objection Agenda Lee Kyung, former full-time deputy spokesperson of the Democratic Party of Korea

Former Democratic Party full-time deputy spokesperson Lee Kyung, who received a fine in the first trial on charges of retaliatory driving but explained that a designated driver was behind the wheel, claimed to have found the driver who was actually driving at the time. Lee filed an objection after being judged ineligible as a candidate for the National Assembly election due to the ruling. The Democratic Party Central Committee's Candidate Qualification Review Objection Processing Committee discussed Lee's objection to the ineligibility ruling on the 18th and plans to report the results to the Supreme Council on the 19th.

On the same day, Lee wrote on Facebook, "On the 16th, with a lawyer present, a statement confirming that the designated driver was driving was prepared." He added on Facebook, "The designated driver called the party nearly 20 times from January 6 to 12," and said, "Although I was unreachable despite contacting the party and the National Assembly for seven days, I am grateful to the party official who finally enabled communication."

Lee also expressed gratitude on Facebook, saying, "Thank you to those who shouted at me to do my best until the end and even suggested putting up banners to find the designated driver," and stated, "I will steadfastly continue to work together with the Democratic Party."

Lee was accused of repeatedly braking abruptly to express dissatisfaction when a car behind him honked and flashed high beams on a road in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, around 10 p.m. on November 12, 2021. Previously, Lee had hung banners in front of the National Assembly and other places seeking the designated driver. Although he told police officers during a call that he was not driving, he later filed complaints against two officers, claiming they issued prosecution opinions based on false information.
