Renault Korea and Intelligent Automotive Parts Promotion Institute Jointly Develop Driving Assistance Technology

Renault Korea Motors announced on the 18th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Intelligent Automobile Parts Promotion Institute (KIAPI) for joint development of autonomous driving and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

At the signing ceremony held in Daegu, Choi Sung-kyu, Head of Renault Technology Korea Research Institute, and Sung Myung-ho, Director of KIAPI, attended. The agreement includes mutual cooperation in personnel, equipment, and resources necessary for research and development, as well as plans to build a joint research and development center. Renault Korea expects this will reduce development time and costs while also enabling the discovery of local regional partner companies.

Renault Korea and KIAPI have maintained a cooperative relationship since 2009. In 2018, they jointly established Renault Group’s first vehicle testing center in Asia. The Renault Group Vehicle Testing Center within KIAPI is responsible for vehicle development testing in the Asian region. So far, 10 models have undergone over 5 million kilometers of driving and performance tests. Choi Sung-kyu, Head of the Research Institute, said, "This agreement will accelerate the development of next-generation technologies."
