Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, will begin construction of the ‘Gwangsan-ro No.1 Public Parking Tower’ starting from the 22nd.
The parking tower, a long-cherished wish of the residents of Songjeong-dong, will be built in the commercial area of Songjeong-dong (818-15) with a total investment of 8 billion KRW. This area is known for its developed commercial districts such as Songjeong Daily Market and Songjeong-dong Tteokgalbi Street.
Although there is a ground-level (flat) Gwangsan-ro No.1 Public Parking Lot with 62 spaces, the lack of parking spaces has caused traffic congestion and inconvenience for residents, leading to demands for improvement.
The parking tower, scheduled for completion by the end of this year, will have a total floor area of 5,181㎡, consisting of 3 floors and 4 sections, providing 190 parking spaces, which is three times the size of the current No.1 Public Parking Lot.
In response to the increase in eco-friendly vehicle use, 10 electric vehicle charging stations will also be installed.
Additionally, to ensure mobility rights for the disabled, dedicated parking spaces for the disabled will be located adjacent to the elevators from the design stage, and ample waiting space will be secured in front.
A public restroom will be constructed on the first floor of the parking tower.
The district office expects that once the parking tower is operational, it will improve parking convenience for citizens and help revitalize the commercial area.
