Samsung Electronics unveiled its first AI smartphone supporting various artificial intelligence (AI) services, the 'Galaxy S24 series.' For the mobile application processor (AP), which serves as the brain of the smartphone, it simultaneously equipped its self-developed 'Exynos 2400' and the US-based Qualcomm's 'Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.' Both mobile APs are enhanced products designed to ensure smooth AI functionality on the Galaxy S24 series.

At the 'Galaxy Unpacked 2024' event held on the 17th (local time) in San Jose, USA, Samsung Electronics introduced the Galaxy S24 series, which supports 'Hybrid AI' combining on-device AI embedded in the device and cloud-based generative AI. As it implements advanced AI features, robust hardware performance to support this is essential. This underscores the greater importance than ever of the mobile AP, which plays a key role in delivering smartphone performance.

Samsung Electronics simultaneously equips the Galaxy S24 series with the self-developed Exynos 2400 and the Galaxy-specific Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 developed in collaboration with Qualcomm. Both products are premium-grade manufactured using a 4-nanometer (nm; 1 nm is one-billionth of a meter) process. The Exynos 2400 is installed in the base and Plus models of the Galaxy S24, while the high-end Galaxy S24 Ultra is equipped with the Galaxy-specific Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

The Exynos 2400 is a mobile AP that Samsung Electronics has meticulously developed over two years. Compared to its predecessor, the Exynos 2200, the central processing unit (CPU) performance has improved by 1.7 times, and AI performance has dramatically increased by 14.7 times. Graphics performance has also been enhanced through the 'Xclipse 940' graphics processing unit (GPU) based on the latest AMD architecture (RDNA2) from the US. Additionally, it includes several advanced graphics technologies to support high-performance gaming.

It is also notable for being the first Samsung mobile AP to apply the advanced semiconductor packaging technology called 'Fan-Out Wafer Level Package (FOWLP),' which improves thermal resistance and optimizes power efficiency for mobile devices. Samsung Electronics stated, "We expect the Exynos 2400 to elevate users' immersive gaming experiences and enhance mobile experiences through various on-device and generative AI functions."

Regarding the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, it is a Galaxy-exclusive product jointly developed by Samsung Electronics and Qualcomm to maximize AI usability. Its high neural processing unit (NPU) performance efficiently handles AI processing, enabling smooth implementation of various AI services on the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
