On the 17th, the Seongdong Police Station and Seoul Metro announced that graffiti, which is a drawing made with spray paint, was discovered on the exterior of a Line 1 train at the Seoul Metro Military Vehicle Depot in Yongdap-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, earlier that morning.

The graffiti measured 4 meters wide and 1.5 meters high and has since been restored. Three male suspects reportedly trespassed by climbing over a roughly 4-meter-high fence around the train depot at about 3:10 a.m., spent about an hour drawing graffiti on the train, and then fled. The police suspect the suspects to be foreigners based on their appearance.

The police are tracking the suspects using closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and other means. Seoul Metro stated that they plan to charge the suspects for the restoration costs if they are caught.

Previously, in the early morning of December 16 last year, phrases such as "Free Movie" written in red and blue spray paint were found on the wall of Gyeongbokgung Palace. The police arrested Lim (18) and Kim (17), who are believed to have committed the vandalism, and are currently investigating the case. The day after the initial graffiti incident, Seol (29), who is suspected of writing a singer's name and album title on the Gyeongbokgung Palace wall with spray paint, was detained and recently sent to the prosecution.
