Busan Gijang-gun Operates 'Companion Plant Clinic Service'

Operation from February to November

Advance reservations start from the 22nd

Recently, since the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of residents in Gijang-gun raising companion plants at home has increased, leading to growing interest in plants.

In particular, raising companion plants at home offers various benefits, including emotional stability, indoor temperature and humidity control, creation of a pleasant environment through the release of negative ions and phytoncides from plants, as well as fine dust absorption and air purification effects.

Busan Gijang-gun Operates 'Companion Plant Clinic Service' Last year, the Companion Plant Clinic was held at the Agricultural Technology Center.

Accordingly, the Gijang-gun Agricultural Technology Center will launch the ‘Companion Plant Clinic Service’ starting in February to ease residents’ difficulties in managing companion plants and support a healthy hobby lifestyle.

The clinic service will operate from February 1st, Monday through Thursday, with five sessions per day: two in the morning (10 a.m. and 11 a.m.) and three in the afternoon (2 p.m., 3 p.m., and 4 p.m.). Each session accommodates two people, providing services to 10 participants daily. Participants can receive comprehensive companion plant care consulting from plant experts, including water management and pest control, as well as repotting services.

Furthermore, the Agricultural Technology Center plans to offer a ‘Visiting Companion Plant Clinic Service’ targeting 10 apartment complexes in the area for socially disadvantaged groups and the elderly, along with ‘Companion Plant Clinic Special Lectures’ that teach easy indoor plant care methods and pest control techniques.

Service applications will be accepted from January 22nd through the Agricultural Technology Center’s website under the course application section. To ensure smooth operation, the following conditions apply: up to two pots per person, pot diameter under 50 cm, and exclusion of high-priced plants or rare plants valued over 300,000 KRW. Therefore, prior consultation is mandatory before applying. (Gijang-gun Agricultural Technology Center, Agricultural Education Team)
