Although the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family has been supporting basic vocational training for out-of-school youth, starting from January this year, 16 Dream Dream Centers in metropolitan cities and provinces will enhance support for customized specialized vocational training and experiences.
The new "Out-of-School Youth Independence and Employment Support Service" will operate for a total of 850 participants. For vocational training support, out-of-school youth can receive training they desire through existing government-certified programs such as the Ministry’s Saeil Center and the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s K-Digital Academy. They can participate in high value-added specialized vocational training such as coding, app development, and editing design. The government plans to support training institutions with up to 3.6 million KRW per person annually for tuition and instructor fees.
After completing vocational training, opportunities for internships and workplace experiences linked with local companies will also be provided. Companies offering internships will receive operational expenses of up to 2 million KRW per person annually.
The support targets out-of-school youth aged 15 to 24 who wish to become independent and find employment. Applications can be made at the local metropolitan city or provincial Out-of-School Youth Support Center or through the Dream Dream website.
