First Expanded Agency Heads Meeting of the New Year Calls for Proactive Administration
Special Attention Requested on Power Abuse and Sexual Misconduct Issues
Yoo In-chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, held the first expanded heads of institutions meeting of the new year on the 17th at the Government Sejong Complex to discuss the plans for key projects this year. Attendees included nineteen affiliated institutions such as the National Museum of Korea, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, National Folk Museum, National Institute of the Korean Language, Korea National University of Arts, National Theater Company of Korea, Korea Foundation, National Gugak Center, as well as the Cultural Heritage Administration.
Minister Yoo repeatedly emphasized that as national cultural and artistic institutions, they must provide a high level of culture to the public. He urged proactive administration and innovation, calling for changes such as fostering artistic talent to spread K-Culture. Additionally, he requested the heads of institutions to pay special attention to issues like power abuse and sexual misconduct, ordering active institutional responses to eradicate power abuse and innovate organizational culture.
Minister Yoo stated, "I hope this year will be one in which national cultural and artistic institutions innovate and change to a level that the public can feel," adding, "We will regularize the expanded heads of institutions meetings involving affiliated and public institutions, and I will personally visit each institution to review changes and efforts."
