Opening of Gangnam-gu Lunar New Year Direct Market

Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will hold a 'Seol Holiday Agricultural, Livestock, and Seafood Direct Market' on the 31st from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the district office parking lot to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

The market, attended by over 80 farms from more than 50 locations nationwide, will sell holiday ritual items such as Korean beef, pears, and apples, as well as local specialties like dried yellow corvina and mushrooms, at a 10% discount compared to market prices.

Additionally, a courier delivery service (4,000 KRW) operating until 4 p.m. will allow convenient shopping.

On the day of the event, the first 2,024 customers who present a receipt for purchases over 10,000 KRW will receive 500g of newly harvested rice as a gift. A free knife sharpening service will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and a food market selling various snacks such as tteokbokki, sikhye, and buchimgae will be operated.

For residents who find it difficult to visit on the day, pre-orders will be accepted from the 18th to the 24th. Customers can check the items on the district office website and leaflets available at 22 community centers, then place orders by phone or visit their respective community centers. Pre-ordered items will be delivered sequentially by courier starting from the 29th.

Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, "We are opening the popular direct market again this year for residents ahead of the Lunar New Year," adding, "We will prepare a substantial market so that residents can purchase affordable and high-quality local specialties."
