Minji, a member of the girl group 'NewJeans,' posted a lengthy apology regarding the so-called 'Kalguksu remark.' Previously, Minji's comment implying that she did not know what kalguksu was sparked controversy among some fans.

On the afternoon of the 16th, Minji posted an apology on a fan communication application, stating, "During the live broadcast communicating with Bernies (NewJeans fan club) on January 2nd, my tone and attitude caused discomfort to viewers," and bowed her head, saying, "I am truly sorry to the fans who were surprised and hurt by my inappropriate attitude during a live broadcast that was supposed to be natural, comfortable, and communicative with Bernies."

Regarding the problematic kalguksu remark, she explained, "Because I have strong picky eating habits and have never tried kalguksu, I was thinking about the types and taste of kalguksu and unintentionally muttered to myself, 'What is kalguksu?'" She added, "I did not expect misunderstandings to arise, and although I wanted to clarify clearly, I also thought it was like spilled water and that the issue would calm down over time."

However, she continued, "As time passed, more words followed contrary to my judgment, and even my relationship with the members was mentioned, causing strange misunderstandings that seemed to have unknowingly troubled me for a year," and bowed her head again, saying, "I tried to explain out of frustration, but I deeply reflect on disappointing everyone with my immature attitude."

She also emphasized, "Through this incident, I have thought a lot during my vacation and, through conversations with those around me, I have reconsidered the responsibility of every word I say," adding, "I will be more careful and attentive to avoid repeating the same mistake."

Meanwhile, Minji had previously said during a live broadcast with YouTuber 'Chimchakman' on February 2 last year, "I have never even eaten kalguksu," and "I am very shy about trying new foods." However, some fans reportedly criticized Minji's remarks, saying she made such comments for character concept purposes.

As some fans continued to show discomfort, Minji said during another live broadcast on the 2nd, "Everyone, I don't know what kalguksu is," which led to further controversy.
