Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) signed a 'Namyangju Hydrogen City Development Project Business Agreement' with Namyangju City on the 16th.

This project is the first to establish hydrogen city infrastructure in the Namyangju Wangsuk 2 district of the 3rd New Town. It was promoted to create a hydrogen economy foundation, one of the government's national tasks, to increase the city's energy self-sufficiency rate.

A 'hydrogen city' refers to a city that has established urban infrastructure such as hydrogen production facilities to utilize hydrogen as an energy source in apartment complexes, buildings, and transportation facilities. Actual hydrogen is applied in all fields within the city where hydrogen utilization is possible.

The two organizations plan to invest 40 billion KRW, including national funds, by 2026 to build hydrogen energy infrastructure in various fields such as apartment complexes, mobility, and transportation facilities. They will install hydrogen production using biogas and green hydrogen extraction facilities, fuel cells, hydrogen charging stations, and hydrogen pipelines.

LH will be entrusted with major projects for building hydrogen city infrastructure, installing hydrogen fuel cells within integrated public rental housing complexes, while Namyangju City will be responsible for project management and funding procurement.

Through this project, LH expects to take the lead in accelerating the city's carbon neutrality response and improve residents' housing convenience, such as reducing energy costs.
