Hwaseong-si Takes Action to Eliminate Medical Blind Spots Through Mobile Medical Services

Providing Dental and Korean Medicine Services to Vulnerable Groups Having Difficulty Visiting Medical Institutions

Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 16th that it will address medical blind spots and strengthen the medical care system through free mobile medical services for medically vulnerable groups.

To this end, the city is collaborating with Dongtan Health Center and Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center Suwon Hospital to provide dental and Korean medicine treatments through mobile medical services for vulnerable groups in the Dongtan area who have difficulty visiting medical institutions such as psychiatric rehabilitation facilities and welfare facilities for the disabled, from today until November 30.

The support targets include Dongtan Ardim Welfare Center (welfare facility for the disabled), Sarangbat (psychiatric rehabilitation facility), and residents of rental apartments, where dental and Korean medicine medical staff visit the target institutions to provide medical services.

The dental treatment items include oral examinations, scaling, cavity treatment (resin), fluoride application, and denture adjustment. The Korean medicine treatment items include tests for blood pressure, anemia, blood sugar, and glycated hemoglobin, herbal medicine prescriptions, electronic moxibustion treatment, and acupuncture.

The city plans to provide customized health management services linked with the Dongtan Health Center’s Oral Health Office and Chronic Disease Management Center to help patients improve their health management capabilities.

Gong Junsik, director of Dongtan Health Center, said, "We expect the free mobile medical service project to contribute to resolving medical inequality among vulnerable groups with low medical accessibility," adding, "We will continue to promote various health promotion projects for medically vulnerable groups to improve regional health and strengthen the medical care system."
