Representative Lee Young-cheol's Proposal... One-Time Payment of 1 Million Won per Lifetime
A plan is being promoted to provide longevity celebration funds to elderly residents aged 100 and over living in Seo-gu, Incheon.
Lee Young-cheol, a member of the Seo-gu Council in Incheon (Democratic Party, Cheongna 3, Dangha, Oryuwang-gil, Majon-dong), recently announced on the 16th that he had taken the lead in proposing the "Ordinance on the Provision of Longevity Celebration Funds in Seo-gu, Incheon."
The ordinance includes the basis for providing longevity celebration funds to elderly people aged 100 and over, aiming to create a social atmosphere of respect for the elderly and filial piety and to wish for longevity. The recipients of the longevity celebration funds are elderly residents aged 100 or older who have been continuously registered and living in Seo-gu for more than one year, and a one-time payment of 1 million won will be provided.
According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's resident registration population statistics as of December last year, there are a total of 72 elderly residents aged 100 or older living in Seo-gu, Incheon, and 35 residents aged 99.
Councilman Lee said, "If the ordinance is enacted, additional procedures such as securing related budgets and reviewing cash-type universal welfare projects by relevant agencies will be necessary, so we will actively cooperate with the executive branch." He added, "Seo-gu, a young city with an average age of 39.9, will strive to become a city of coexistence where the elderly can also be happy."
