Complex Spatial Recognition and Customer Network Experience Analysis
Applying Space DNA Analysis to Over 70% of the Metropolitan Area
AI Model Advancement to Be Unveiled at MWC 2024
SK Telecom announced on the 16th that it has applied a Deep Network AI (DNA) solution, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology to precisely analyze network conditions in three-dimensional environments, to its commercial network.

Existing network analysis was mainly conducted in outdoor 2D spaces based on latitude and longitude, making it difficult to perform precise analysis in 3D environments such as inside buildings where customers realistically live or move, roads, and subways.
SK Telecom developed 'DNA,' which analyzes and visualizes network conditions in 3D spaces using AI technology. DNA can comprehensively understand specific building spaces or moving spaces such as subways, railroads, and roads, and analyze network traffic, network speed and coverage experienced by customers, as well as customer inconvenience issues.
DNA is the result of integrating AI-based network quality analysis, indoor positioning, and mobility analysis technologies that SKT has been developing. Through this, SKT plans to accurately analyze time, place, and situation (TPO) and finely adjust network quality, thereby improving network operation efficiency.
Currently, SKT is applying DNA analysis to more than 70% of spaces including commercial buildings, subways, railroads, and roads within the metropolitan area. Through this, it confirmed that the time to recognize network degradation on-site has improved by an average of more than 60% compared to before.
SKT plans to continuously expand the analysis target areas and develop the system from the current level of recognizing on-site situations to a stage where it can predict future situations. Additionally, it intends to advance the AI model by analyzing through a digital twin similar to the real world where communication equipment is installed.
SKT plans to showcase DNA use cases overseas at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 and actively pursue business cooperation with global partners utilizing network AI technology.
Park Myung-soon, head of SKT’s Infrastructure AI/DT division, said, "This is a meaningful result of integrating various AI model technologies developed in the network domain, such as location, mobility, and network analysis," adding, "We plan to continuously enhance customer perceived quality and network operation efficiency by utilizing AI technology."
